Hi, I’m Katherine — the photographer behind Katherine Comparetto Photography, based in Midlothian, Virginia and serving families throughout Richmond and the surrounding areas. My sessions are all about connection — the little in-between moments that tell your family’s story. I want your photos to feel real, full of warmth, and true to you.

Before I became a photographer, I spent more than 20 years working as a pediatric occupational therapist, specializing in early intervention and social-emotional development. My years in that field shaped how I see and connect with children — how they move, communicate, and feel safest when they’re met with patience and understanding. That same approach guides me behind the camera today.

Working with families for so many years taught me that the most meaningful moments happen when we slow down and let things unfold naturally. Photography became a way for me to keep celebrating those moments — the connection between parents and children, the joy in the everyday, and the beauty of each stage of childhood.

Whether we’re photographing a sleepy newborn, a one-year-old discovering their independence, or a family laughing together at sunset, my goal is to capture your story honestly and beautifully with a warm, clean, and timeless editing style. I’ll guide you gently during your session, but I also love to step back and let real moments happen. The result is a collection of images that feel natural, joyful, and full of heart.

Photography allows me to combine everything I love most — creativity, connection, and celebrating family. It’s an honor to capture these fleeting seasons for you, knowing how quickly they change. When I’m not in the studio or on location, you can usually find me with my husband and kids (who are their wackiest during family photos!)

If you’re ready to capture your family’s story, I’d love to create something beautiful together.
