Frequently asked questions.
What time can we meet?
For outdoor sessions, the most beautiful light is typically during the hour to hour and a half before sunset, so that’s what I recommend whenever possible. If an earlier time works better for your family, we can often choose a location with plenty of shade and flexibility.
Newborn, milestone, and cake smash sessions in the studio are typically scheduled mid-morning, around 10:30–11:00 a.m.
Where do you take pictures?
I photograph families throughout Midlothian, Richmond, Chesterfield, Powhatan, Henrico, Hanover, Mechanicsville, Hopewell, and surrounding areas. After booking, you’ll receive a location guide with photos and details about my favorite spots to help you choose the perfect setting for your session.
Have a meaningful location of your own in mind? I’m always happy to check out new locations, too!
What should I wear?
You don’t have to figure it out on your own! After booking, you’ll receive a style guide with tips for choosing colors, coordinating outfits, and selecting pieces that photograph well. I’m also always happy to look at photos of outfits you’re considering and help you pull everything together before your session.
I also have 3–4 dresses available to borrow for maternity or family sessions.
Can I bring my dog?
Absolutely! Pets are part of the family, too. Just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a pet-friendly location and plan accordingly.
Do you offer packages?
Yes! When two full sessions are booked together — such as maternity and newborn — you’ll receive $100 off the combined sessions. Additional savings are available when booking three or more sessions together.
Payments can be split between sessions, and payment plans are also available.
How long until my pictures are ready?
Finished galleries are typically delivered within 2–3 weeks of your session.
Is there a deposit?
Yes. A $75 deposit is due at booking to reserve your session date and time and is applied toward your session. The remaining balance is due on the day of your session.
Do you offer mini sessions?
Yes! Mini sessions are offered on select dates throughout the year, with options typically available during spring, summer, fall, and the Christmas season.
Upcoming mini sessions are announced through my email list and social media, and current availability can be found on my booking page.
What if my child doesn’t cooperate?
Please don’t worry! With more than 20 years of experience as a pediatric occupational therapist working with babies and children, I’m very comfortable giving kids the time and space they need to warm up. I keep sessions relaxed and follow their lead when needed, with plenty of patience, play, and breaks along the way. Some of the best images happen when we let kids be themselves rather than expecting them to sit still and smile at the camera.
